#1 Resource in Building Your Tribe (& you're missing it)

The most important resource for you to find & build your tribe, to develop relationships, to create a community — isn’t twitter or facebook, it’s not email marketing or affiliate management software, it’s not tweetups or telesummits or amazon.com campaigns –

the most important resource in building your tribe are your evangelists.

If you want to learn more about building your tribe –> next week I’m launching the pre-sale of Build Your Tribe, the new program to teach you how to find those people who resonate with you and build relationships to revolutionize your business & your life. Learn more and get on the First Dibs list (it will only be open for 3 days!).

How do you want to be acknowledged for spreading the word about your favorite people, programs, & brands?

How do you thank members of your tribe for passing you along to their people?

I’d love to hear your ideas, feedback, and comments below!

A thank you on twitter is great, and you are great at doing that. Emails are very touching, but I worry that you might not have time, so I don’t expect that.
Recently I did a video using suggestions from your 3 days to video product. I had watched it before but this time it was like seeing something brand new. That is such a great piece. I suggested it to my friend Susan and she was inspired by it too.

One of the best ways I can think of to thank someone is a personal handwritten thank you note and/or a phone call. Taking the time to get personal says that their efforts really meant something to you and that you sincerely appreciate the support. However, in this day and age, not everyone wants to send snail mail or pick up the phone (texts are my fave means of cellular communication), so email works as do RTs and updates of thanks. One thing that I saw Katie Freiling talk about that I thought was genius is that she has a special blog roll for people who comment the most on her blog! How cool is that? Asking your evangelists to write guest blog posts is nice (if you like their style) because it really lets them bask in your spotlight and take pride in promoting your brand. I think the more ways you can genuinely thank people the better and if you can give them a boost of followers or subscribers, that’s the cherry on top!

Britt – you know it’s funny, I don’t even have many snail mail addresses for people anymore! (except for clients who pay with credit cards).

Once nice feature of Disqus in the sidebar is that the most comment people are highlighted in on the menus.

This is a great reminder. I think too many of us are sporadic in our acknowledgement and responses to the people who help boost us up. I’m starting off my new project by making darned sure to loudly appreciate everyone who supports me.

Show you care, plain and simple. People would be absolutely amazed if they truly realized the huge power in showing even an ounce of care. A community and tribe is all about people in the first place. If you neglect them and don’t take care of them, they’ll move on.

Great, now all I need are evangelists. Simple!

Off topic, but I’m wondering why you don’t use a lav mic for your audio. It’s distracting to hear you talk over traffic and I think a good lav mic will allow us to hear your voice better while making the traffic noise less obvious.

Right now I’m making videos using a flip cam (which does not have external audio hookups), since that’s what many people use & since I teach video, I want to demonstrate with what people are using.

I do plan to add a camera w/ external mics, which I agree, are very helpful when in areas with exterior noise.

I’ve just changed my’ Top Commentators’ tab to Thank you for your comments’. I can only hope they know I mean it.

    Thanks for the idea Britt.
